Possum Trapping Johns Creek – Cumming Area

We get calls all the time for possum trapping & removal.  Typically they are using a deck or porch as a den and people start to notice an odor or an over abundance of fleas and then we get a call.

We can really quickly trap and remove the possum.  Possums are North America’s only marsupial which means they carry their babies in a pouch like a kangaroo.  The are real good climbers and contraire to popular belief they do not hang upside down in trees by their tails at night.  They are the least aggressive animal in our area.  They are commonlyy called “grinners” because whenever they are confronted they make this face to show all of their teeth… hence the term “grinner”.  When possums play dead as a defence mechanism they show their teeth and drool.  They have a gland which releases this odor in their mouth that smells like a decomposing animal to add credibility to the “playing possum” and appearing dead.

It is uncommon for them to carry rabies, with wildlife I never say never, but I heard it has something to do with their body temperature being too low.
