We were hired to hand remove this 4 - 5 Ft black snake today. To our surprise, somehow this snake caught a full grown squirrel. Had to be a lucky ambush.
Regardless we knew it was a risk to move him. But we had to. We kept him in bucket until we could release him. As soon as we did, he rejected the squirrel. It was almost completely in his belly. Darnit.
Nature can be brutal but yet never stops amazing us.

When bird netting is used in your yard to protect flowers or gardens it oftentimes is an indiscriminate killer. To us, little is worse than to see an animal suffering in our book.
Sometimes when we get called out for a snake in the yard it is visible because it is tangled up in bird netting. We charge a lot more for this call then if we were just grabbing the snake & relocating it. We (Two techs) have to spend a lot of time trying to carefully snip the netting away from the snake. Sadly when an animal or snake is tangled in netting they struggle more to get free and it ends up tangling them even worse often cutting deep into their skin.
We are not posting this to make anyone feel bad using this in the past. What we hope is that it makes people reconsider using it in the future.
